WHAT IS MESOTHELIOMA

Mesothelioma is a one kind of cancer which arises from the cells which are lying the sacs of the chest (the pleura) or the abdomen (the peritoneum).In this a cancerous tumor grows on the mesothelium the sac lining the internal body cavities. This type of mesothelioma is named for the tissue where the cancer started It is also refer as an "asbestos lung cancer", "cancer due to asbestos", "mesothelioma asbestos cancer". Actually it is not found inside the lungs as "mesothelioma" occurs in the linings of the lungs. The patients suffering with mesothelioma is very less. It was said that uptill now about 4500 american's suffered by this cancer.It was very common among the people who have been worked inside the environment surrounded by asbestos.Because these workers regularly carried dust and fibres on their clothes, skin and in their hair and this fibres and dust could be ingested by family members, who were then at risk of developing mesothelioma, respiratory problems or another asbestos related disease.

TYPES OF MESOTHELIOMA

Till now three "types of mesothelioma" diagnosed.
1. Pleural mesothelioma - "pleural mesothelioma" starts inside the chests pleura that surrounds the lungs.It was found at the outer linings of the lungs and inside the wall of chest.This was the most common type of mesothelioma cancer.About 80% of mesothelioma patients suffering by this type.

2. Peritoneal mesothelioma - "peritoneal mesothelioma" detected at the linings of the abdominal cavity.It also affects the organs inside the abdomens.It is found in rare patients.

3. Pericardial mesothelioma - "Pericardial mesothelioma" affects the heart and also affects the cavity that surrounds the heart.
